Send Medical Supplies to Sick Kids in Laos

100% of donations made through BBS go to those in need.

BBS is proud to support the Lao Friends Hospital for Children (LFHC) in Luang Prabang, Laos. BBS first visited LFHC in 2016 and we were blown away by the team spirit and kindness exhibited by its amazing facilitators and volunteers, as well as their unwavering commitment to medical excellence.

LCFH was founded by Friends Without Boarders – an NGO established in 1996 with the mission to provide compassionate medical care to children in Southeast Asia. Their first hospital Angkor Hospital for Children (AHC) opened in Siem Reap, Cambodia in 1999.

Since that time, AHC has treated over 1.6 million children, trained hundreds of healthcare professionals, and is considered “one of only three essential healthcare institutions” in the entire country, as stated by a Cambodian Health Minister.

Opened with just an Outpatient Department, today AHC is a full service hospital that includes: Inpatient & Outpatient Departments, Low Acuity Unit, Emergency Room, Triage, Intensive Care Unit, Surgery Ward, Heart Surgery, Dental Clinic, Eye Clinic, and a Satellite Clinic in the Sot Nikum District of Cambodia.

In January of 2013, Friends and AHC celebrated a long-held goal as they handed over the key to the hospital to the passionate and dedicated staff of AHC, transitioning Angkor Hospital for Children from foreign intervention to 100% local management. At the same time, their mission of helping children of Southeast Asia expanded into another country: Laos.

On February 11th, 2015, Friends celebrated the grand opening of Laos Friends Hospital for Children. In the first year of operations, LFHC treated nearly 20,000 children – offering Outpatient, Inpatient, Emergency Room, Pharmacy, Laboratory, and Radiology services. 2016 marked the opening of the Neonatal Unit, as well as the Surgical Theatre, which greatly expanded the reach of services available for children in Laos.

Looking forward to 2017 and beyond, this growing hospital is in an ongoing need of medical support and additional technologies to offer affordable and excellent healthcare to the local Laos community. It is with thanks that we accept any donation you may be able to make in support of this outstanding clinic.
