Business for Better Society recently received support from the Wrentham Library and Post Office in Wrentham, Canada to expand access to children’s reading materials at the Zebak Library in Badakhshan, Afghanistan.
Through this donation, 300 children’s books have been purchased in both Dari and English. The books will be added to the Zebak Library’s collection and made available to children and families who use the library, as well as communities throughout the surrounding region.
The Zebak Library provides an important resource for children and families in Badakhshan, where access to books and educational materials remains limited. By expanding its collection, the library can provide additional opportunities for children to develop literacy skills and engage with stories in their own language as well as English.
The support from the Wrentham Library and Post Office reflects the role that community-based organisations can play in supporting education beyond their own geographic boundaries. Located in a small rural community in Alberta, the Wrentham Library has helped strengthen the resources available to another community library thousands of kilometres away.
The Wrentham community has been a long-time supporter of Business for Better Society and our work with local partners around the world. This contribution is another example of how community partnerships can help address practical needs and support access to education.
