Schools in Uganda have been closed since the beginning of the COVID-19 crisis, and as such the LEP libraries have been closed to the communities they serve. Fortunately, schools in Uganda will begin to open in late September and LEP is looking forward to providing book access to students upon re-opening.

LEP leadership had originally planned an in-person trip to Uganda to visit our established libraries as well as open new ones. However, due to the pandemic this is no longer possible. They are however planning on opening a number of new libraries and a trip to Africa as soon as they are able.

Also a very big welcome to Mr. Rokim Robinson who is joining the LEP team in the capacity of Co-CEO.

Originally from New York, Rokim has been in Africa since 2016, first as a Peace Corps volunteer and later working at a health care practice. As co-CEO, Rokim will be responsible for managing the Literate Earth Project’s operations in Uganda and developing new partnerships for the organization.
