BBS was awarded on December 31, 2022 a grant for emergency humanitarian aid relief as well as longer term community programming in the Democratic Republic of the Congo. This grant was awarded by GlobalGiving as part of their Hope in Crisis Fund which launched in 2022.  For 2023, GlobalGiving awarded four grants to organisations working in the DR Congo and four more to organisations in Yemen.

BBS will distribute the aid through our DR Congo partner, Remember Youth for Change, and all of the emergency aid will be distributed in the camps outside the town of Goma.

“We’re honoured by the trust that GlobalGiving has shown in BBS and our efforts to help those in the Goma camps as well as the former child soldiers of the DR Congo” shared Kelly Brantner, CEO of BBS.

Introduction to the Hope in Crisis Fund from GlobalGiving Website:

The Hope in Crisis Fund brings vital support where it is needed most in crisis-affected communities, regardless of whether their stories make headlines. Your donation to the Hope in Crisis Fund will help meet immediate and long-term humanitarian needs with a focus on efforts led by local, vetted organizations in crisis-affected communities. With sustained support, families who are displaced can start over, meet their children’s basic needs, and build long-term solutions. GlobalGiving will work with our local partners on the ground to get your donation where it’s most needed.

Your donation will:

  • Deliver food, water, and supplies to struggling families in underserved, crisis-affected communities
  • Provide economic, mental health, and emotional support to survivors of natural disasters, conflicts, human rights violations, and other crises
  • Power community-led solutions to crisis
  • Strengthen community preparedness and resilience
  • And much, much more..
