At Business for Better Society, we believe that meaningful, lasting change begins at the grassroots level. Today, we are proud to announce a new strategic partnership with the Tingari-Silverton Foundation to expand our microbusiness incubator program to South Sudan and Malawi.
This new chapter builds upon the success of our current incubator in Homa Bay, Kenya, where 150 women-led businesses have been launched and a vibrant women’s group with 45 members has taken root. These businesses are more than just income-generating activities… they represent dignity, confidence, and the power of economic independence.
The ripple effects have been remarkable. Household income among Homa Bay participants has increased by 120%, with healthcare and school fees for children emerging as the top areas of investment. These choices reflect the deep commitment women have to building not just a better life for themselves, but a stronger, healthier future for their families.
Together, BBS and the Tingari-Silverton Foundation are united in a shared vision: to break the cycle of generational poverty. We both believe that sustainable transformation happens when local people are equipped with the tools, knowledge, and support they need to lift themselves and their communities out of poverty. And we both believe that women are central to that transformation.
The expansion into South Sudan and Malawi is more than geographic growth; it’s a deepening of our commitment to empower women at the community level, where resilience, collaboration, and local leadership are the strongest. These new incubators will provide training, coaching, and startup support to women who are ready to build better futures for themselves and their families.
This partnership also signals what’s possible when organisations come together with aligned values and a common mission. We’re not just launching businesses we’re nurturing ecosystems of hope, possibility, and economic justice.
We’re grateful to the Tingari-Silverton Foundation for their trust and belief in the power of grassroots change. And we’re excited to walk alongside new communities in South Sudan and Malawi as we continue our shared journey of building better societies for all.
We’re looking forward to sharing more updates as these new incubators get underway and the first women entrepreneurs step boldly into their futures.
