One of the most inspiring aspects of our microbusiness incubator program in Homabay is the growing community of alumni that continues to flourish long after the formal training ends. While seed funding and structured coaching provide the foundation for launching small enterprises, it is the ongoing guidance from mentors and the support of alumni that truly sustain the momentum and success of our participants.

As the 18 women in the current cohort complete the final modules of the Street Business School curriculum, each is finalizing her business plan. They are filled with determination and potential, and what strengthens their journey even more is knowing they are not doing this alone.

A key element of the incubator’s success lies in the support systems embedded within its structure. The local implementation partner has engaged successful local entrepreneurs, women who intimately understand the economic and social challenges of the region, to mentor the new cohort. These mentors do more than give advice. They offer lived wisdom, relatable experiences, and emotional support. Their presence bridges the gap between theory and the everyday realities of running a business.

Equally powerful is the involvement of alumni from previous cohorts. These women, who once stood where the new participants stand today, are now giving back as peer mentors. Their support has created a dynamic cycle of learning and trust. Through informal coaching and peer guidance, alumni are helping the new entrepreneurs navigate early hurdles such as sourcing materials, managing time, and budgeting effectively. These relationships extend the value of the program by reinforcing resilience, shared learning, and a culture of community-driven growth.

In a program designed to empower, mentorship and peer support are not add-ons. They are essentials. By fostering strong relationships alongside business training, we are building more than enterprises. We are cultivating leadership, resilience, and a community where each woman’s success contributes to the strength of the whole.

Thank you for being part of this journey. Together we are not just launching businesses. We are creating lasting impact.
